Tajikistan is preparing to participate in one of the key sporting events of the year: the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025.
The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Tajikistan has announced that judokas Madina Qurbonzoda and Nourali Emomali will serve as the flag bearers for the delegation. Qurbonzoda is one of Tajikistan’s pioneering female judokas with international acclaim, while Emomali is the reigning world silver medalist and captain of the national men’s team.
The Tajik delegation includes 134 members, of which 69 are athletes, with the remainder comprising coaches and representatives from national federations and committees. Tajik athletes will compete in 12 sports, including judo, taekwondo, kurash, athletics, weightlifting, archery, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, and Paralympic disciplines.
The Islamic Solidarity Games, organized under the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), unite athletes from 57 member countries. The event features 13 Olympic sports, 4 non-Olympic disciplines, 3 Paralympic categories, and 1 traditional sport, including camel racing and pencak silat (an Indonesian martial art that combines striking, grapping, and throwing with cultural and spiritual elements).
This year marks the second time Saudi Arabia will host the Games, two decades after the inaugural event held in Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah in 2005. The opening ceremony is scheduled for November 7, with the closing ceremony on November 21.
