Authorities in Dushanbe have intensified efforts to hold parents accountable for the behavior of their children through mobile court sessions organized by the city’s police department.
The latest open court hearing was held in Sino District, where more than 30 administrative cases were reviewed under Article 90 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code, which penalizes improper fulfillment of parental duties regarding a child's education and upbringing.
The court ruled that the offenses committed by minors resulted from parental negligence. As a result, all parents involved were issued administrative fines.
Since the beginning of the year, over 1,300 similar cases have been filed in Dushanbe. Most have resulted in court-ordered penalties, according to the city’s police department.
Rising juvenile delinquency has prompted authorities to call for stricter parental and school oversight.
In the wake of a fatal school fight in the city’s Firdavsi district, Deputy Police Chief Faizali Saydalizoda met with students and parents to discuss the root causes of teenage aggression, the influence of digital media, and the importance of monitoring children's social media activity.
Despite these efforts, police report that some parents remain indifferent, allowing teens to spend nights outside the home, frequent internet cafés, and engage in antisocial behavior. Officials stress that stronger family oversight is essential to prevent future tragedies.
