President Dmitry Medvedev expressed hope that positive events in the Russo-British relations will take place more often now. One of such events is the opening of a liquefaction gas plant in Sakhalin, Medvedev said.
“I hope that such joyful events will take place more often now and will give a positive colouring to the international agenda and our bilateral relations, " Medvedev declared at a meeting with British Prince Andrew who took part in the opening ceremony.
"Recently, there have not been too many such events, and the fact that we are witnessing the opening of such a big enterprise with the participation of our business is a very good thing,» the Russian president declared.
He thanked Prince Andrew for accepting an invitation to visit Sakhalin. "We appreciate the fact that You have arrived, especially because it took place shortly before Your birthday," Medvedev noted. "Although our people do not believe in good wishes beforehand we wish You success,» Medvedev told Prince Andrew.
In reply, the prince said that on the way back to Britain he would have an opportunity to celebrate his birthday many times because he would be crossing many time belts.
"This is a good idea," Medvedev smiled.
Prince Andrew thanked the Russian president for the invitation to come to Sakhalin to attend the ceremony of commissioning the plant, which the prince described as a top class project of the world level. The realization of the project is a good opportunity for the development of bilateral relations, Prince Andrew said, adding, it applies to cooperation between the two countries in general and in the gas sector, in particular. We have discussed possibilities for the realization of joint projects with Gazprom and Rosneft, Prince Andrew said.
