Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and visiting U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden on Tuesday will discuss prospects for translating into reality the plans for strategic partnership between Ukraine and the U.S., the president’s spokeswoman, Irina Vannikova, said.
Biden arrived in Kiev on Monday on a three-day visit.
At the talks “the parties will discuss further implementation of the Charter on Strategic Partnership signed by the two countries on December 19, 2008, as well as concrete steps aimed at guaranteeing Ukraine’s national security.”
They will also focus on cooperation in energy and defence, Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration, including its accession to NATO, she said.
After the talks Yushchenko and Biden will give a joint news conference.
Vannikova told that at the talks Yushchenko will initiative the creation “of an interstate high-level commission to boost bilateral relations.”
