The Middle East quartet of mediators and the six countries holding talks on Iran''s nuclear program will hold meetings at the 64th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the U.S. ambassador to the UN said Monday.
The Middle East Quartet consists of Russia, the U.S., the UN and the European Union. The Iran Six is made up of Russia, China, the U.S., the U.K., France and Germany.
Susan Rice did not specify the exact date for the meetings during the Assembly session that starts Tuesday.
The West suspects Iran of secretly seeking to build nuclear weapons. Tehran says it needs nuclear technology for electricity generation.
