NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen is in Afghanistan, the organisation announced Monday.
He is to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai and General Stanley McChrystal, commander of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, it said, without specifying when Rasumssen arrived or how long he will stay.
Last week, 36 nations pledged a total of 6,800 extra troops to Afghanistan, after US President Barack Obama announced plans to commit an additional 30,000 US soldiers to the war against the Taliban insurgency.
