Citing local officials, Afghanistan’s main TV station TOLONews says at least seven people were killed and 85 others wounded by a truck bomb early Thursday morning near a government hospital in Qalat, the capital of Afghanistan’s Zabul province.
The incident reportedly occurred approximately at 6 a.m. and a number of office buildings and houses were severely damaged.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) office is also located close to the hospital but officials say no NDS employees have been hurt in the incident.
“Ambulances have also been called from Kandahar city to transfer the wounded to hospitals in Kandahar province. Most of the victims have been taken to private hospitals,” officials added.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast and said the target was the NDS office.
Recall, at least 16 people were killed and more than 100 wounded Monday night, after a massive explosion from a suicide car bomb attack rocked central Kabul. Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack as well.
