Badakhshan residents protested against insecurity and the lack of electricity and water in Faizabad, the capital of Afghanistan Badakhshan province.
TOLOnews says a protest on Tuesday in Faizabad turned violent with three protesters killed and over 20 wounded in a clash with security forces. Health officials reportedly confirmed the casualties.
Badakhshan residents were protesting inadequate security in the province and the lack of electricity and water in Faizabad said those who were part of the demonstration.
Video was shared with TOLOnews showing a crowd with some participants bloodied. Gunfire can be heard in the background.
Nek Mohammad Nazari, a spokesman for Badakhshan's governor, said the protesters attacked the governor's compound and threw stones and wood at security forces.
“The protesters clashed with the security forces even before sharing their concerns,” Nazari said..
