DUSHANBE, April 15, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday April 14, President Emomali Rahmon visited Vahdat district and Khaton province to get acquainted with implementation of a number of infrastructure projects.
In Vahdat district, the president familiarized himself with the pace of construction of the branch line Vahdat-Yovon, the presidential press service reported.
The project was launched in March 2009 and 4.2 kilometers of a new railroad have been built and 9.8 kilometers of the old one have been rehabilitated to date.
In Khatlon’s Danghara district, Rahmon got acquainted with the pace of rehabilitation of the Dushanbe-Danghara highway.
More than 900 million somoni have been allocated for the project to rehabilitate this highway and dig a 4.43-kilometer road tunnel under the Ghormaghzak Pass. By April 1, some 270 million somoni have been drawn.
Builders say more than one kilometer of the tunnel has been construction so far.
President Rahmon also attended a ceremony of an official opening of the 123-meter bridge across the Elok River on the 25th kilometer of the Dushanbe-Danghara highway.
