DUSHANBE, June 15, 2011, Asia-Plus - On Tuesday Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon met with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbaev in Astana to discuss a wide range of bilateral issues.
According to Tajikistan President’s press service, leaders of the two states have outlined a high level of mutual trust and noted that the two states have similar view on multiple problems.
President Rahmon has expressed satisfaction with the work of the joint commission for trade and economic cooperation and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the two states and said that it is time to conduct the Coordination Council at the highest level. Therefore, he invited Kazakh leader to visit Tajikistan, the source reported.
On Tuesday President Rahmon also met with the Vice President of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Kieshi Kodera and discussed further cooperation between Tajikistan and the Agency.
It has been noted that it is very important for Tajikistan’s foreign policy in Asian-Pacific direction to develop mutually beneficial relations with Japan.
JICA’s Vice President thanked President Rahmon and the Tajik people for support provided to his country after the accident at the Fukusima-1 nuclear plant.
