DUSHANBE, June 17, 2011, Asia-Plus - President Emomali Rahmon has conducted a working meeting to discuss ongoing preparation for the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence, effective use of arable land, provision of food market with foodstuffs and reduction of prices for foodstuffs.
Government officials, representatives from the President’s Office, heads of ministries and departments as well as heads of cities and regions of republican subordination, scientists and literary men took part in the meeting.
According to the President’s press service, Tajik Prime Minister Aqil Aqilov reported about the ongoing preparation for the country’s main holiday. He said that 1350 new objects will become operational in the country by the 20th anniversary of the country’s independence.
Such objects as National library, national museum, new central park with the total area of 15 hectares and a five star hotel “Serena” as well as many other objects will become operational in Dushanbe.
President Rahmon ordered related ministries and structures make related preparations for celebration of the country’s Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 9, in all regions of Tajikistan.
Meeting participants have also discussed the issues of effective use of arable lands, repeated sowing, provision of food market with cheap commodities of good quality. Related reports were made by the Tajik Vice Prime Minister Murodali Alimardon, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev and head of the Tajikpotrebsoyuz (Tajik Consumers Union) Sirojiddin Valiev.
It was stressed that following the President’s initiative farmers are expected to get two or more yields from arable lands.
According to reports issued by related structures, this year’s total area sown to potato has been increased up to 4000ha, and its crop capacity will be increased up to 80.000 tons.
Head of the state stressed that there is a need to prepare for the forthcoming winter period, press service has said.
