DUSHANBE, August 3, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- On Tuesday August 2, President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree on measures aimed at strengthening the level of population''s social security and increasing public sector wage, pensions and allowances [scholarships] beginning on September 1, 2011, the presidential press service reports.

By president’s decree wages of directors of research institutes and other agencies of the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Academy of Education and the Academy of Health will be raised 3.3 times and wages of employees of these institutions and the National Conservatory will be raised 100 percent.

Wages of staff of the boards of the Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Academy of Education and the Academy of Health as well as branch-wise institutions will be raised 30 percent.

Wages of the staff of the health sector, institutions and organizations which are funded from the state budget are to be raised by 40 percent.  Base wage rate for the staff of the health sector to be set at 112.00 somoni.

Wages of the staff of social and cultural facilities funded from the state budget are also to be raised by 40 percent.

Monthly wages of chairmen, deputy chairmen and judges of courts of Gorno Badakhshan, Dushanbe, regions as well as economic and military courts of Gorno Badakhshan, regions and Dushanbe as well as judge of military courts of cities and districts regions are to be raised by 100 percent.                

Monthly wages of chairmen, deputy chairmen and judges of the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the Higher Economic Court as well as deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) are to be raised by 50 percent.

The base wage rate for the public management bodies, executing agencies of local public authorities and village council is to be set at 350.00 somoni.  Wages of the staff of institutions and organizations which are funded from the state budget are to be raised by 30 per cent from September 1, 2011.

The current allowances [scholarships] for students and post-graduate students are to be
increased by 40 per cent and the social and labor pensions are to be increased by 25 per
cent from September 1, 2011.

In all, 242.9 million somoni are needed for implementation of this decree, the presidential press service said.
