DUSHANBE, August 3, 2011, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon today morning departed for the northern Sughd province for a working visit.
The source at the government says the main purpose of the visit is for the president to get acquainted with the socioeconomic situation and the process of carrying out reforms in agrarian and industrial sectors of northern Tajikistan. “The president is expected to visit the cities of Khujand, Istaravshan and Panjakent as well as the Bobojonghafurov district to attend ceremonies of an official opening of a number of social facilities built in the province on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence,” he said.
President Rahmon is also scheduled to address meetings of local administrators in the mentioned cities and districts.
Issues related to ensuring food security of the country and enhancement of agrarian and industrial sectors of the province will be in the focus of president’s meetings with representatives of various sectors of Sughd’s economy, the source added.
