DUSHANBE, August 8, 2011, Asia-Plus - In the course of his visit to Khatlon area, which started this morning, President Rahmon will study socio-economic situation in the area and will look at the ongoing reforms in agrarian and industrial sectors.

In the course of his three-day visit to Khatlon area, President Rahmon will take part in the opening ceremonies of several objects dedicated to 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence in Kulob, Kurgon-Teppa, Khovaling, Muminobod, Baljuvan and Bokhtar regions, a source in the Government told the AP.

President is also scheduled to meet with activists of the listed above regions and cities. Special attention during his meetings with representatives of various sectors of economy will be paid to the country’s food security, repeated sowing and development of industrial potential of the region, the source has said.

Kulob will be visited first. According to Kulob’s Mayor Hamid Abdulloev, President will look at socio-economic development of the city and Kulob area, preparation for celebration of the 20th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence. President Rahmon will take part in the opening ceremonies of 7 newly constructed objects and will launch the construction of another one. In the course of his visit to 16th microregion of the city, located close to the local railway station, head of state is scheduled to lay a capsule on the construction site of the President’s Gymnasium for 1200 pupils, Kulob Mayor reported.

President will also open 4 newly constructed education facilities. “Special attention will be given to a newly constructed school for 1200 seats. This school was built for children who suffered from the disaster which occurred in April-May last year. 12 million Somoni were allocated from the state budget for the construction of this object,” Kulob Mayor has said. “At least 10 million Somoni were allocated for rehabilitation of the #27 secondary school, construction of second corps of the #30 school and second corps of the Pedagogical College, the construction of which was also launched by the President of the country last year.”

H. Abdulloev noted that head of state will take part in the opening of a new sewing factory which will open on the basis of former shoe factory and will take part in the opening of a new artificial lake in Kulob region.
