DUSHANBE, October 18, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On the sidelines of annual meetings of commissions of the CIS, EAEC and CSTO Parliamentary Assemblies that concluded in St. Petersburg on Sunday, Tajik MPs held a number of meetings with Tajik labor migrants and students working and studying in St. Petersburg.
Mr. Safarali Rajabov, head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on Economics and Finance and Ms. Marhabo Jabborova, chairperson of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy familiarized themselves with living and working conditions of Tajik labor migrants working in Leningrad oblast.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the issue of employment of young specialists in Tajikistan was a major topic of MPs’ meeting with Tajik students studying at the St. Petersburg higher educational institutions.
We will recall that speaking at a meeting of Majlisi Namoyandagon board (Shuro), the Majlisi Namoyandagon Speaker Shurkurjon Zuhurov on September 19 called on parliamentarians to participate more actively in tackling problems facing Tajik migrant workers and protecting their rights. The parliament speaker, in particular, noted he would take under his personal control meetings of MPs with labor migrants during their frequent business trips to the Russian Federation.
