Susan Marsh Elliott will succeed Kenneth Gross on the post of the U.S. ambassador to Tajikistan, the U.S. Department of State reported.
U.S. President Barack Obama offered the candidacy of Elliott on Wednesday. Elliott has previously served at the State Department as Deputy Assistant U.S. Secretary of State for Central and South Asia.
In 2009-2010 she worked at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, in 2007-2009 - at the Embassy in Belfast.
This will be the second female U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan after the predecessor of Gross - Tracey Ann Jacobson, who is currently U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo.
