KHUJAND, November 21, 2013, Asia-Plus -- On Wednesday November 20, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov held talks in Khujand with Qohir Rasoulzoda, Head of the Sughd province.
According to the Sughd administration press center, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.
Rasoulzoda reportedly expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation of the Sughd province with Russia’s regions.
To-date, Sughd province has established fruitful cooperation with Ivanovo, Sverdlovsk, Orenburg, Astrakhan and Saratov oblasts as well as the Altay krai.
A two-way trade between the Tajik northern province of Sughd and Russia over the first nine months of this year reportedly valued at more than 339 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Sughd’s exports to Russia estimated at more than 15 million U.S. dollars and Sughd’s imports from Russia worth 324 million U.S. dollars.
During his two-day working visit that is concluding today, Russian ambassador also visited the “Sughd” Free Economic Zone.
