KHUJAND, December 23, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Sughd governor Abdurahmon Qodiri visited the Kuhistoni Mastchoh and Ayni districts at the end of last week.
According to the Sughd administration press center, the main purpose of the visit was for the governor to get acquainted with the socioeconomic situation in the districts.
During his meeting with senior representatives of the Kuhistoni Mastchoh local authorities, Qodiri pointed to the necessity of reorganizing large farming units into family farms.
63 farming units now function in the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district. They are mainly engaged in potato growing.
Qodiri drew attention of the district administrators to the necessity of rational use of lands, rehabilitation of local roads and bridges, enhancement of medical service, and construction of sports grounds.
The governor also noted that small ore-processing enterprises could be launched in the Kuhistoni Mastchoh district. He called on local entrepreneurs to participate more actively in establishment of small industrial enterprises and service centers in the districts.
Similar issues were discussed at a meeting of Qodiri with senior representatives of the Ayni local authorities.
