DUSHANBE, January 24, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Co-chaired by Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, the 12 session of the Tajik-Russian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation is being held in Dushanbe today.

Addressing the meeting, Shuvalov noted that Russian was ready to expand its bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan.

He stressed that certain agreements were reached during Russian president’s official visit to Tajikistan in October 2012.  “President Putin ordered the Russian Government implement those agreements and we have done a certain work by now,” Shuvalov noted.

Russian official expressed hope the ceremony of exchange of ratification notes would take place and other procedures would be completed in the near future.

Shuvalov said that the main objective of the 12th session of the Tajik-Russian commission for trade and economic cooperation was to outline priorities of mutually beneficial cooperation.

For his part, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda noted that “Russia has been and remains strategic partner of Tajikistan.”

He noted that the number of unsolved problems in bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Russia had considerably decreased lately.

The session is expected to result in a number of cooperation documents.
