DUSHANBE, January 27, 2014, Asia-Plus -- On Saturday January 25, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda received the Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s Country Director for Tajikistan, Mr. C.C. Yu.
Subhiddin Muhiddinov, a senior consultant for Tajik president’s press center, says the sides discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and ADB.
The two, in particular, discussed the progress of implementation of the ADB-sponsored projects in Tajikistan and the plan for bilateral cooperation for the future, Muhiddinov said.
According to him, Tajik prime minister noted that Tajikistan gave a special attention to investment projects supported by ADB.
Tajik PM and ADB’s country director also discussed cooperation between the sides on construction of the rail link connecting Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
“Mr. C.C. Yu noted that ADB will provide assistance to the countries participating in the project with conducting feasibility study for the project,” Muhiddinov noted.
Tajikistan joined ADB in 1998 and, to date, the institution has approved total assistance of over $1.2 billion in concessional loans, grants, and technical assistance to the country. The 15 years of ADB-Tajikistan partnership has promoted social development, restored and built new infrastructure, expanded agricultural production, and encouraged regional cooperation and trade within the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program.
