DUSHANBE, January 29, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Further operations of Tethys Petroleum Limited (Tethys) in Tajikistan have been discussed here at a meeting of Tethys Executive Chairman and President, Dr. David Robson, with senior representatives from the Main Geology Directorate under the Government of Tajikistan.
According to the Main Geology Directorate press center, the sides discussed issue related to development of plan of further works and funds that will be provided by the company for exploration operations.
Representatives of the Tajik Main Geology Directorate reportedly appreciated Tethys’s financial support for the previous projects.
Tethys is one of the first oil and gas companies to work in Tajikistan. Tethys negotiated the First Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for the large Bokhtar area in the southwest region of the country. Singed in 2008, the 25-year Bokhtar PSC reportedly covers a total area of approximately 35,000 square kilometers.
Tethys owns 85% of Seven Stars Energy Corporation, which in turn owns 100% of Tethys Services Tajikistan, the Operating Company under the PSC, and Kulob Petroleum Limited, the Contractor under the PSC, and is currently involved in an extensive program of oil and gas field re-development, exploration drilling, and seismic acquisition/interpretation.
