DUSHANBE, January 29, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament has ratified the Agreement on Cooperation Between the CIS Nations on Returning Minors to the Countries of Their Permanent Residence that was signed in Chisinau, Moldova in 2002.
A regular sitting of the fifth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, was held on January 29.
Speaking at the session, Deputy Interior Minister, Ikrom Umarov, noted that 277 Tajik children had been returned to Tajikistan from other CIS nationals primarily Russia and Kazakhstan, since 2008.
General Umarov further added that some 200 other Tajik children were illegally staying in the CIS nations.
