DUSHANBE, February 11, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday met here with Ms. Laura Tuck, the World Bank’s Vice President for Europe and Central Asia.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says issues related to implementation of the Dushanbe water supply project, which is supported by the World Bank, were a major topic of the meeting.
The mayor reportedly noted that to-date, 181,000 water users in Dushanbe have been provided with water meters.
“To provide transparency of the water supply project the mayor proposed to take implementation of the project out of control of the Dushanbe Vodokanal (DVK), the utility in charge of providing water supply and sewerage services to the Dushanbe area,” Saidov said.
According to him, the sides also discussed a number of other issues being of mutual interest, including attraction of investments for development of Dushanbe’s economy, etc.
