DUSHANBE, February 12, 2014, Asia-Plus /Avaz Yuldoshev/ -- On Tuesday February 11, Sharif Said, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), received Mr. Richard Wood, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.K. Embassy in Dushanbe, according to the CCI press center.

The two reportedly discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom.

Sharif Said noted that Tajikistan considered the United Kingdom as one of its main partners and was interested in expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial economic cooperation with it.

The CCI head briefed the British diplomat on investment climate in Tajikistan and outlined sectors like mining, hydropower, construction, agriculture, telecommunications, transportation, and tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom.

He further added that holding of an exhibition of goods of British producers would promote expansion of economic and business cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Mr. Wood highly appraised the current level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and noted that interest of British companies in investing in Tajikistan’s economy grew after Tajikistan’s admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the CCI press center said.
