DUSHANBE, February 17, 2014, Asia-Plus -- In January 2014, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power and natural gas, amounted to 397.2 million U.S. dollars, which was 92.8 percent of the January 2013 level or 31 million U.S. dollars fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance was negative and amounted to some 255.8 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January 2014 amounted to 707.7 million U.S. dollars, which was 44.2 percent or 55.7 million U.S. dollars fewer than in January 2013.

Imports of goods into the country last month amounted to 326.5 million U.S. dollars, which was 8.2 percent or more than 24.8 million U.S. dollars more than in January 2013.    

Last month, Tajikistan had trade relations with 60 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January 2014, Tajikistan’s major trading partners were: Russia – more than 100 million U.S. dollars; Kazakhstan – some 70 million U.S. dollars; China – 44 million U.S. dollars; and Turkey – some 38.8 million U.S. dollars, the Agency for Statistics said.

We will recall that in 2013 the external trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to some 5 billion U.S. dollars, which was 102.9 percent of the 2012 level or 146.7 million U.S. dollars more.
