DUSHANBE, February 18, 2014, Asia-Plus --  Barqi Tojik (Tajik state-controlled electricity supplier) reports that total electricity generation in January 2014 was more than 1.4 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) or 46.5 million kWh per day.

Electricity generation last month reportedly increased by 1.8 percent (45.7 million kWh) compared to December 2013.

Meanwhile, electricity generation in January 2014 was 87 million kWh fewer than in January 2013, according to the Tajik power holding.

Total electricity consumption last month was more than 1.4 billion kWh, which is 3.4% more compared to December 2013.

In January 2014, electricity consumption was 70 million kWh fewer than in January 2013.

In January 2014, 28.3 million kWh of electricity was supplied to Afghanistan from the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP), 15 million kWh fewer than the same period of last year.

At the end of January 2014, the water level the reservoir powering the Norak HPP was 884.17 meters above sea level, 10.75 meters lower when compared to December 2013, 0.6 m lower than in the same period of last year, and 27.17 meters above the “dead level” (857 m).
