DUSHANBE, March 10, 2014, Asia-Plus – German company, Siemens Energy Sector, which is one of the four sectors of German multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate company, Siemens AG, is reportedly ready to participate in implementation of energy projects in Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, this issue was discussed here on March 9 at a meeting of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon with Mr. Stephan Kohler, Executive Chief of the German Energy Agency (dena) and Mr. Michael Suess, CEO of the Siemens Energy Sector.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to construction and rehabilitation of hydropower plants in Tajikistan, use of alternative and renewable energy sources, and use of modern technologies for construction of electricity transmission lines in Tajikistan.

The German side noted the possibility of participation of German companies in enhancement of Tajikistan’s energy sector, the president’s website said.

Siemens AG is reportedly expected to open its office in Tajikistan.

Mr. Kohler, in particular, noted that Germany is interested in participation in implementation of energy projects in Tajikistan and expressed hope for an efficient use of opportunities existing in this sector, the website noted.

Emomali Rahmon reportedly expressed confidence in expansion of energy cooperation with large German companies and introduction of new technologies for development of Tajikistan’s energy sector and noted that Germany was a reliable partner of Tajikistan in Europe.   

The Siemens Energy Sector, founded on January 1, 2008, is one of the four sectors of Siemens AG corporation. The company generates and delivers power from numerous sources including the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and natural gas in addition to renewable and alternative energy sources. Michael Suess was appointed CEO of the sector on April 1, 2011.

The Siemens Energy Sector consists of the following four divisions: power generation; energy service; power transmission; and wind power.

Established in the autumn of 2000, the German Energy Agency ( Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena), with its head office in Berlin, is the center of expertise for energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and intelligent energy systems.

Shareholders in dena are the Federal Republic of Germany, KfW Bankengruppe, Allianz SE, Deutsche Bank AG and DZ BANK AG.
