DUSHANBE, April 2, 2014, Asia-Plus -- The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) reports that Tajikistan saw bank deposits grow by 15.9 percent in a year to February 28, 2014 to 5.6709 billion somoni, reflecting the expanding economy and rising public confidence in the banking sector.

According to data of Tajik central bank, individual deposits account for 67.2 percent (3.8096 billion somoni) of the overall volume of deposits kept at Tajik banks and corporate deposits account for 32.8 percent (1.8613 billion somoni).  

Local currency deposits reportedly carry a weighted average interest rate of 15.48 percent at the moment versus 12.22 percent for foreign currencies.
