DUSHANBE, June 24, 2014, Asia-Plus – Malaysian news agency Bernama reports that speaking at a joint press conference in Putrajaya, Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak noted on June 23 that Malaysian companies with an edge in construction, public housing, power generation, mining as well as halal food and products are keen to explore investment opportunities in Tajikistan. 

Najib said the companies would do well in Tajikistan, adding a Malaysian power generation company plans to venture into the power generation business there, marking the beginning of many collaborations to come.

Najib said Malaysia and Tajikistan are committed to achieving a heightened level of bilateral trade moving forward.  “There is much scope for us to achieve a higher level of collaboration between the two business communities of the two countries,” he said.

Bilateral trade between both countries expanded nearly 200 per cent year-on-year to US$5.5 million in 2013, the prime minister said.
