According to the Charter of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan, the reporting and elective congress of the party has to be conducted every four years. The previous congress of IRPT in which Muhiddin Kabiri was repeatedly elected as the leader of the party, took place on 23-24 September 2011.
The Charter of the Party requires the next congress of the party to be called before the end of September of the current year where the present leadership of IRPT has to report on the performed work and the new leader be elected.
The Deputy leader of the IRPT, Mahmadali Hait, in the interview with “AP” said that the decision on calling the next reporting and elective congress of the party has not been taken yet. “The calling of the congress is an exclusive prerogative of the high political council of the party that has not yet taken any relevant decision”, - Haitov said. He stressed out that the leader of IRPT, Muhiddin Kabiri, has been out of the country for more than five months now.
IRPT, referring to rising pressure from the authorities on the members of the party, doesn’t exclude the option of authorities opening a criminal investigation against their leader in case of his return to his motherland.
