Tajikistan’s Finance Minister, Faiziddin Qahhorzoda, stressed the expansion of economic cooperation with Iran, Iran’s Mehr News reported on December 11.
He reportedly met with Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mohammad Taqi Saberi, to discuss the development of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic field.
Given the technical and export capacities of Iranian companies in many fields, Tajikistan is ready to participate in construction of joint factories, Tajik minister said, calling for increased investment by Iranian businessmen and investors in Tajikistan.
Iran’s ambassador, for his part, reportedly emphasized the need to increase the volume of economic exchanges between the two countries.
Referring to the 13th meeting of Tajikistan-Iran Joint Commission for Trade and on Economic Cooperation that took place in Tehran last week, Ambassador Saberi said that Iran is also ready to cooperate with Tajikistan in all fields and implementation of joint projects.
The two sides reportedly emphasized the need to strengthen and develop cooperation between the two countries, especially in the private sector through activities of chambers of commerce.
Relations between Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are warming up.
In mid-February, former Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said that Tehran is eager to further expand ties with Dushanbe as it considers its ties with Tajikistan as “familial.”
In March, Tajikistan's Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda, at a meeting with Iran's outgoing Ambassador Hojatullah Faqani, said that Dushanbe is determined to increase economic and commercial relations with Tehran, calling for increase in volume of trade between the two countries.
“Welcome to your second homeland,” President Emomali Rahmon told his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani upon his arrival in Dushanbe for the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), on June 15.
