DUSHANBE, September 17, Asia-Plus -- A meeting of the council of foreign ministers of the CIS member states was held in Minsk on October 16. 

According to the Tajik MFA, the meeting focused on raising the efficiency of the CIS and prospects of further development of the organization. 

The ministers also weighed security and law enforcement issues. 

CIS actions to counter illegal migration, criminal incomes and in 2006-2008 and the financing of terrorism were also discussed. 

Participants also considered setting up a working group to draft an interstate program for a single system to register citizens of other states and persons without citizenship in the CIS states. 

The council of the CIS foreign minister was established by the decision of the council of heads of state of September 24, 1993 to coordinate foreign-policy activities of the member states.
