KULOB, September 25, Asia-Plus -- Some 200 members of the of the Socialist Party (SPT) in Kulob have stated that if the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) does not register Nazriyev as candidate for president they will support the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDPT).
Sharif Islomov, the head of the SPT organization for Kulob, said that their delegates had taken part at the congress of the Nazriyev-run wing of the SPT in Dushanbe and are ready to vote for Mirhusein Nazriyev. “We will never vote for Abduhalim Ghafforov, who even did not consider it necessary to invite Kulob Socialists to attend his wing’s congress,” Islomov stressed.
In the meantime, Abduhalim Ghafforov has sent to Kulob several hundreds of blank election lists for collecting signatures of voters for him to be considered for the ballot. “We are aware of this,” said Islomov, “However, we are not going to support Ghafforov.”
