DUSHANBE, September 6, Asia-Plus - An official opening of the Scientific-Research Center of Tajiks of the World was held in Dushanbe today morning.
The Center head, Professor Mansour Babakhanov, has noted that at present more than 5 million ethnic Tajiks live in Tajikistan, and Tajik history and culture are studied at all higher educational institutions in the republic, while in 100 countries across the world, where a total number of ethnic Tajiks has been estimated at more than 35 million; Tajik history has not been studied so far.
According to him, the Tajik Ministry of Education have studied this issue and given its consent for the establishment of the Center of Tajiks of the World at Tajik National University. “In May, they provided premises at the University’s Faculty of History and all necessary equipment for opening the Center,” Professor Babakhanov said.
Now, in accordance with the scientific program designed for 2005-2015, more than 10 skilled researchers working with the Center will study the most topical aspects of history, archeology, ethnography, and culture of ethnic Tajiks living abroad. “Besides, we plan to hold international scientific symposiums on various aspects of history of Tajiks,” known Tajik researcher said.
Chairmen of Tajik communities from France, the Great Britain, Germany, China and other countries, as well as guests from Europe and Asia attended the Center-opening ceremony.
