DUSHANBE, August 30, Asia-Plus -- Fairs of farm produce will be held in Dushanbe on the threshold of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts on September 24 this year.
The fairs will be held at the Dushanbe markets of “Sakhovat” and “Qariyai Bolo” from September 19-23, the First Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Masaid Homidov, said in his interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the department for trade and markets within the Dushanbe mayor’s office has initiated holding of these fairs in order that the Dushanbe residents would be able to purchase products at moderate prices.
It is expected that prices in this fairs will be 15%-20% lower than usual prices market prices.
Mr. Bahriddin Valiyev, the head of the Dushanbe department for markets, has told Asia-Plus that 300 tons of potatoes, 280 tons of onions, 70 tons of carrots and 60 tons of meats will be put for sale in the fairs.
Besides, the Dushanbe department for markets has also applied to the city businessmen requesting them to lower prices of their goods during these days.
