KULOB, August 21, Asia-Plus -- An official ceremony of formation of a rescue team at the Temurmalik emergency management agency will be held today.

According to information from the Temurmalik emergencies, the local rescue team consists of 15 people.  “The Temurmalik district (Khatlon province) is prone to various natural disasters and there are several centers of natural crises here and therefore it is difficult to respond operatively to disasters and mitigate their effects without rapid reaction rescue team,” the source in the Kulob emergency management agency said.

“The Temurmalik authorities have provided premises for the newly formed rescue team and all communication and warning equipment will be installed today,” the source said, noting that the Temurmalik rescue team will operate not only in Temurmalik but also in other nearby districts.

“It is already the second local rescue team in Khatlon,” said the source, “The first one was formed recently in Vose.”
