President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has affirmed the agreement on economic cooperation for 2008-2017 signed between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan in Minsk on June 2008.
Under the agreement, the sides are to implement the programme of the economic cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan for 2008-2017. This programme defines the main objectives, goals and areas of the economic cooperation and trade relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan. The programme also extends to the bilateral cooperation in the prevention and response of natural and human-made accidents.
The press service explained that the agreement will help step up trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, guarantee the fulfillment of the measures to provide the state support for the enhancement of the mutually beneficial economic, sci-tech and other links; the agreement will define the priorities and the main avenues of the bilateral cooperation on a long-term basis.
