Uzbek woman has got a lengthy jail term in Tajikistan for murder and desecration of a dead human body.
The Sughd regional court has sentenced Uzbek citizen Gulmira Akhmedova, living in the village of Yova in the Bobojon-Ghafourov district of Sughd province, to 22 years in prison.
The sentence reportedly followed her conviction on charges of murder (Article 104 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code), desecration of a dead human body (Article 243 (1) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code) and robbery (Article 249 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code). Akhmedova a will serve her term in a mimimum-security penal colony.
An official source at the Sughd regional court says Akhmedova killed old woman Egashoi Kholboyeva on July 14, 2018 for the purpose of seizing her gold jewelry and then burned her body.
Akhmedova reportedly sold the seized gold jewelry for 1,850 somoni.
