DUSHANBE, September 15, 2012, Asia-Plus -- On Friday September 14, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met here with Mr. Kazuyuki Hamada, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
The Tajik president’s official website notes the sides discussed issues related to state and prospects of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan. They reportedly expressed satisfaction with an efficient implementation of numerous humanitarian, social and transportation projects in Tajikistan that are sponsored by the Government of Japan.
Tajik leader, however, noted that there is considerable room for expansion of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of investment, energy, mining, light and food industries, the source said.
Japan’s parliamentary vice-minister fro foreign affairs reportedly noted that Japan was ready to extend its participation in implementation of fundamental projects of regional significance in sectors like energy, transportation, road building, connecting electricity transmission and transportation networks of the countries of Central Asia and South Asia within the framework of the “Central Asia plus Japan” Dialogue.
The sides also discussed the current situation in Afghanistan and ways to reconstruct Afghanistan’s economy, the source said.
