On March 3, Resident Representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Tajikistan, Ambassador Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Tajikistan (with residence in Nur-Sultan), His Excellency Alan Hamson, the AKDN Resident Office in Tajikistan says.
At the meeting that took place at the AKDN office in Dushanbe, the parties reportedly discussed issues related to cooperation between the AKDN and Canada on development of the remote areas, agriculture, education, health, humanitarian assistance, environment and climate change and some other issues.
It was reportedly also noted that the Government of Canada recognizes the AKDN and its agencies as leading and reliable partners and acknowledges the rich experience and long-term activities of its programs on the improvement the quality of life of the people.
At the end, the parties expressed their readiness and interest on mutually beneficial cooperation to improve the lives of the people.
AKDN and its agencies focus on empowering and improving the lives of people in developing countries.
AKDN programs are aimed at the well-being of all people, regardless of race, nationality, or religion.
The Government of Canada and the Aga Khan Development Network have a longstanding and successful partnership that extends across many fields and countries. For example, for many years, Aga Khan Foundation Canada has been an important partner with the Canadian International Development Agency in a series of development programs ranging from rural development in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Tajikistan, to early childhood education in East Africa.
