On Thursday May 30, 2024, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met in Rome with Ambassador Terhi Hakala, the European Union Special Representative for Central Asia, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
In the course of the talks, the two reportedly discussed in details the ways to expand cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union in the political, economic and security spheres.
Mr. Muhriddin and Ms. Hakala also exchanged views on a number of international and regional issues being of mutual interest.
They also discussed the process of preparations for the 3rd Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference, the Tajik MFA information department says.
In the duties of the EUSR for Central Asia, the focus is on the EU's continued and comprehensive cooperation with countries in the region. The cooperation covers a broad range of matters in the following sectors: security, the rule of law, environment, water, climate change, education, and human rights with an emphasis on women and girls.
In line with the European Union Strategy for Central Asia, it is also important to promote the development of the business environment and to stimulate investments as well as to foster sustainable connectivity.
