President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin will pay a state visit to Tajikistan on October 9. This was announced by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.

As Pankin noted, the presidents of the two countries "set the tone for bilateral cooperation and demonstrate by personal example how friendship can and should be cherished in today's difficult world."

"I am confident that the upcoming visit will give a new powerful impetus to the development of our multilateral relations and will allow us to find new vectors for the development of bilateral contacts," - Pankin added.

It is expected that during the visit, the heads of state will discuss topical issues on the bilateral and regional agenda.

Russia and Tajikistan maintain close cooperation in the political, economic, military and humanitarian spheres. Russia is one of Tajikistan's main trading partners.

The last time Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Tajikistan was on a working visit on June 28, 2022. This was the second face-to-face meeting between the leaders of the two countries that year. Earlier, on May 16, they took part in the work of the anniversary summit of the CSTO in Moscow.
