A dust storm is expected in Tajikistan from August 16 to 19. It will cover the southwestern and central regions of Khatlon region, as well as Dushanbe, areas of republican subordination and the northern part of Sughd region, the Emergency Situations Committee under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan warns.
"This will lead to air pollution with dust and particles of 10 microns (PM10) and 2.5 microns (PM2.5) in size," the department notes.
In addition, glacial mudslides, rockfalls and landslides are possible in the mountainous regions of Tajikistan in the next 24 hours.
Due to the deterioration of the air condition, the Emergency Department strongly recommends:
- drink up to 2-2.5 liters of water per day, including up to 0.5 liters of mineral water;
- keep the windows closed or protect them with nets that need to be moistened;
- humidify the indoor air and avoid drying out the nasal mucosa. Special attention should be paid to rinsing the nose and rinsing the mouth;
- if the eyes are irritated, rinse them with artificial or natural tears.
People suffering from bronchial asthma and chronic bronchitis should:
- do not reduce the dose of medications;
- always have inhalers with you;
- in case of frequent use of inhalers (more than 4-6 times a day), consult a doctor.
In case of an emergency, call 112, +992 (37) 223-13-11 or +992 (93) 880-28-19.
