Meduza reported on November 11 that the Kremlin has denied reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke on the phone after Trump’s election victory last week.

According to Meduza, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Monday that there was no conversation.

“This is an obvious example of the quality of the information currently being published, sometimes even in fairly respected outlets. It is completely untrue. It’s a pure fabrication, just false information,” Peskov was quoted as saying.

Reuters reports that asked if Vladimir Putin had plans for any contacts with Donald Trump, Peskov said: "There are no concrete plans yet."

Recall, The Washington Post, citing knowledgeable sources, reported on November 10 that Putin and Trump held a phone conversation on November 7 in which the future U.S. president advised Putin “not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of Washington’s sizable military presence in Europe.”
